Lions Club Ploiesti was near the children from kindergarten class, Magureni school, Prahova county, at the beginning of the new learning year. Our club offered toys, party suits and sweets for the 60 children from three classes. Lions Club Ploiesti, aware that school is important in human life and encourages each time the children not to give up their dreams, passions and desires. WE SERVE!

DONATION AT BAICOI HOSPITAL

Lions Club Ploiesti, through its members, grants great importance to children. Many of the activities organized by the club, in the community of Prahova, are aimed at children: charity concerts, Ophthalmology screenings, material and financial support for study, scholarships etc. Thus, members of Lions Club Ploiesti went to Baicoi Hospital, pediatric section, where they donated five tables for the hospital pediatric section rooms. Because June started with international children day, all children who were ill in the hospital received toys.

LIONS Club Ploiesti – toys for children from 1-4 classes, "Brancoveanu Voda" college Urlati, Prahova County, for celebrating the end of the scholar year. Lions Club Ploiesti members congratulated the children for their scholar activities and have wish a nice summer holyday. Many thanks for LC Bucuresti Decan and to our colleague Daniela Dobrescu from LC Arad 2007 for the toys. Thanks Marius Stoica for the arrangement of the event.

LIONS DISTRICT 124 ROMANIA NATIONAL CONVENTION – BUCHAREST 2023

During 25-28 May 2023, was held in BUCHAREST, the Lions National Convention. From Lions Club Ploiesti, were participated a delegation of 3 members at the events occasioned by this manifestation. SATURDAY, 27 May 2023 started the works of National Lions District 124 Romania Convention. Were welcome the officials from Lions Romania and from foreign countries. Were gave diplomas and awards for the guests and lions members involved in the lionistic movement from this year. Were presented and evaluated resolutions, were done the elects for the management positions for the District: Governor, First Vice Governor, Second Vice Governor. Were confirmed the names for Governor- FLORIN ILIES, Lions Club Deva Sarmizegetusa, First Vice Governor – MANUEL SELES, Lions Club Oradea, Second Vice Governor –ALEXANDRU GRIGOROVICI, Lions Club Iasi 2000. The Saturday evening was the Gala dinner were the lions members from all the country enjoyed and relaxed. We thank very much to the lions clubs from Bucharest for the involvement in organization of the most important event of the lionistic year.

PLANTING TREES - 2023

Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 10.00, Lions Club Ploiesti organized action of planting trees (malin) in Ploiesti- Cina Garden. The event is in line with the actions undertaken by the Lions Club Ploiesti Association and the Association of LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 124 ROMANIA, the LIONS NATIONAL DAY OF PLANTING TREES AND SHRUBS. At this action participated children from school Sfantul Vasile, Ploiesti, accompanied by Mrs. Roxana Taga, their class teacher. They planted 10 malins trees. They contributed to stimulate interest in the environment, to promote biodiversity and obtain a less polluted air. Along with children participated in these actions few members of the Association of Lions Club Ploiesti. They were responsible for organizing the event, with the satisfaction that supports a good cause, with long impact. SGA Ploiesti administration responded positively to the approach initiated by Lions Club Ploiesti, giving and helping us to planting the trees. The event was received with interest by the children, they gave names to the seedlings planted and promised to come occasionally to see their evolution. This action was a great opportunity to link the Lions name with the idea of volunteering in order to embellishment natural spaces, involving children, stimulating their interest in protecting the environment and involvement in community.

LIONS DISTRICT 124 ROMANIA MEETING – RESITA, MARCH 2023

During 24-26 March 2023, was held in Resita, the fourth meeting of lions District 124 Romania. From Lions Club Ploiesti, were participated 2 members at the events occasioned by this manifestation. Saturday, 25 March 2023 started the works of meeting, at the County Counsel of Resita, festivity room. Have presented the actions and the achievements of the District, from the last period until now. National contests:  Peace Poster – winning the big international prize, Lead with compassion, with the poster of Emma Paveliuc, 13 years old, LC Iasi D – sponsor club  Young Lions Ambassador – regional and national organizing of the contest  Musical European Contest – identifying the participants for the national contest, trombone instrument GAT team:  Training for the future clubs presidents; seminar for the region and zone future presidents  Members retention through the satisfaction of belonging to the organization  Projects in progress and new projects with LCIF funds requests The Saturday evening was the Gala dinner were the lions members from all the country enjoyed and relaxed. LIONS CLUB PLOIESTI – FEBRUARY MEETING

Saturday, February 25, 2023, members of Lions Club Ploiesti attended the monthly club meeting. The session had two main directions, namely feedback for actions performed in the previous month and programming actions for the current year, until July 2023. The agenda of the meeting included the analysis of the actions carried out this year:  Participation in the Lions New Year 2023 Poiana Brasov  Donation for institutionalized children from The Door Mogosoaia center  Ophthalmological screening on Carmen Sylva College Ploiesti Planning future actions:  March 1-8, 2023 – Women`s Day at Suler Ploiesti Hospital  Planting trees/shrubs in the week of March 20-25  Diabetes awareness campaign in the week of “different school”, April 2023  Young Ambassador Contest, local phase, around May 1, 2023  Musical competition (trombone), the possibility of participation of a child from the Carmen Sylva Ploiesti Art College, Timisoara April 28-29  Participation at the National Convention – May 25-28, 2023 Bucharest  June 1, donation for the Baicoi Hospital, Prahova, pediatrics department We established teams that would deal with organizing and participating to actions, we have identified and covered the necessary resources and after we do effectively the proposed activities. At Ploiesti, we concluded that we are what we do. To help the people who need and to make volunteering is not an act but a habit! WE SERVE!

SIGHT SCREENING

Wednesday, 22 February 2023, Lions Club Ploiesti members have organized an action to eye screening, for children from two “O class” and two second classes, Carmen Sylva College Ploiesti, Prahova county. The screening of sight was free for a number of 72 children. In this project launched by Lions Clubs International and took over by Lions Club District 124 Romania, Lions Club Ploiesti has been organizing since 2010, many eye screening actions for testing children from schools or kindergartens, within the city of Ploiesti and Prahova County. Children detected with disorders (around 25 %) were guided by an ophthalmologist, present in the screening, to a medical office to do more tests. Lions Club members prepared surprises for children and gave them chocolate eggs after testing. Thank Clinic Clarity Vision, our partner in this project for collaboration.

POSTERS AND ESSAY FOR PEACE -2022

Saturday, November 19, 2022 have been awarding children who participated at the PEACE POSTERS contest and ESSAY CONTEST edition 2022-2023. It was the day when members of the Lions Club Ploiesti sponsored 2 children who participated this year in the Posters for Peace and Essay for Peace contests, at the national level of both competitions. Our sponsored children for these competitions are: • Cretu Alexandru Razvan from the Art College Carmen Sylva Ploiesti – participant to Posters for Peace contest; • Anton Andreea Theodora from Sf. Vasile School Ploiesti – participant to Essay for Peace contest. Andreea was the winner of a mention at the national competition Essay for Peace, with the essay: Lead with compassion. Contests PEACE POSTERS and ESSAY CONTEST organized by Lions Club Ploiesti, are addressed this year for children aged 11-13 years, who represented the peace imagine in the context of mentioned theme. For the lionistic year 2022-2023 contest theme was "LEAD WITH COMPASSION". As in all years, the contest was pyramidal, having the base at the club level. Lions Ploiesti, subscribes to the organization`s overall mission: creating and maintaining the purpose of humanitarian aid, a spirit of community among people, through volunteering, through community involvement and international cooperation. Peace is one of the fundamental values of humanity, which must be preserved and carried on by the next generation represented by the children.

NATIONAL AUTUMN CONVENTION – IASI 2022

Lions Club Ploiesti members were participated between 18 and 20 November 2022 to the National Autumn Convention of lions clubs from District 124 Romania. During that two convention days, six members of Lions Club Ploiesti were participated to the plennary sesions and to organization and derulation of the international Peace Posters Contest, national level. We are proud because like another clubs from the country, in September we organized the Lion Heart Cross-Tour Ploiesti, to promote the moving, in order to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Thus, in October we organized the yearly oftlamologic screening for children betwen 5 and 6 years old, from Ploiesti, school Sf. Vasile. Our members are linked and together we can due a lot of actions with impact to the comunity. Together with the district lions clubs we make possible the District 124 Romania slogan for this year: Lions for the strong communities.

INFORMATION CAMPAIGN – WHAT IS IT AND HOW WE PREVENT DIABETES

On November 14, 2022, where done the diabetes information campaign, organized for the children from VI and VII classes, Sf. Vasile School, Ploiesti. The purpose of the campaign was to educate students aged between 10 and 13 about: - risk factors in relation to diabetes (sedentary, unbalanced nutrition, obesity, stress); - recognizing the onset of the disease: excessive thirst, excessive urine, excessive hunger, weight loss. The children received information on the types of diabetes, symptoms, risk factors and prevention. The goal of the campaign is to promote a healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes and control the disease if it is installed. The psychologist Iuliana Gheroghe, Lions Ploiesti Club collaborator, made a series of recommendations to the children regarding: - keeping a normal body weight; - daily movement (walking); - adopting a correct diet; - removing saturated fats from daily diet (by reducing meat consumption and replacing fish, replacing sunflower oil with olive oil, avoiding roasted food in oil); - eating fresh vegetables and fruits as well as whole grains (by replacing white bread with whole or rye bread, whole grains at the morning and evening meals, avoiding pasta, white pasta and reducing sweets and cakes, as well as sugar-sweetened soft drinks).

EVENT LIONS CLUB CONSTANTA-30TH ANNIVERSARY

The Constanta Lions Club celebrated its thirtieth anniversary on Saturday, October 15, 2022. There were two days full of events, including the establishment of a new Leo club at Regina Maria High School. Two members of the Ploiesti Lions club were with their friends from Constanta at the anniversary evening. During this, ten new members were welcomed into the club. At the same time, diplomas were awarded to the present members for the entire activity carried out. Congratulations to all and success in the lionistic activity!

MATH CAMP-CÂMPULUNG MUSCEL, JULY 2022

Between 18 and 23 July 2022, Lions Club Campulung Negru Voda organized the national math camp, for students that will start the 8th grade next year, and have a passion for math but a poor material situation. Children were sent to the camp, through the lions clubs of District 124 Romania. Lions Club Ploiesti sent one student in the camp, from Sfantul Vasile School Ploiesti. All children benefited at Campulung of perfect conditions for accommodation and meals and by mentor-teachers, collaborators of the Mathematics Gazette. Children were very happy and excited about the days spent in the camp, for the math exercises they have solved and for the trips and fun program offered by the organizers. We thank Lions Club Campulung because they offered us the possibility to participating in this camp.

DONATION FOR THE DOOR MOGOSOAIA-ROMANIA

At the beginning of February 2022, Lions Club Ploiesti donated clothes, pillows, blankets and some sweets for the institutionalized children from centre The Door Mogosoaia. Our club is the friend of the organization builded through lions international founds, from some times. When we saw the children and the location, we understand that wonderful things are done there, the children receiving the education and warmth what they need. We are very happy to be near the children and help they when is necessary. We Serve!

LIONS DISTRICT 124 ROMANIA WINTER CONVENTION - SIBIU 2022

During 21-23 January 2022, was held in Sibiu, the Lions Winter Convention. From Lions Club Ploiesti, were participated a delegation of 4 members at the events occasioned by this manifestation. Saturday, 22 January 2022, took place the workshops dedicated to projects financed from Lions International Foundation and members retention. Sunday, 23 January 2022, were held proceedings of the National Winter Convention of Lions District 124 Romania. Some invited foreign persons spoken on-line and sent congratulations to our district for the actions and activities done. After this, were presented the reports of the Cabinet members for the lionistic year 2021-2022. Very interesting was the section dedicated to clubs projects, developed in different place from the country. The Sunday evening was the Lions New Eve, were the lions members from all the country enjoyed and relaxed. We Thank very much to the lions clubs Sibiu for the involvement in organization of the lionistic event.
